Ioan Atanasiu Delamare Award 2015 of the Union of Visual Artists in Romania

Tuesday, November 29, 2016, at the National Museum of Art of Romania - Royal Dining Room, Union of Visual Artists of Romania, through its president, Mr. Petru Lucaci, also in the presence of Mr. Călin Stegerean, director of the National Museum of Art, of the Board of Directors of UAP and other personalities, presented the diplomas of the UAP winners for 2015.

On this occasion, the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Romania awarded the “Ion Atanasiu Delamare”- 2015 Mr. Benjamin Popescu.

Ioan Atanasiu Delamare Award - 2015

 

Benjamin Popescu (born 1989) is a PhD student at the National University of Arts in Bucharest. He recently opened his personal exhibition Technoplaster at the Funnel Contemporary Gallery in Bucharest. Other exhibitions: Wie lustig ist das Zigeunerleben, Chemnitz, Germany (2015); Image has failed to upload due to an error @ Musette, Bucharest (2015).

The Supreme Council of the RSAA, in collaboration with the Union of Visual Artists, annually awards a young visual artist, appointed by the UAP board. The prize, which is in its second edition this year, is awarded in memory of our brother, the graphic designer Ioan Atanasiu Delamare, who passed to the Eternal Orient during 2015.

Born in Bucharest on January 5, 1955, Ioan Atanasiu Delamare became a member of the UAP in 1990. Between 1984 and 1994 he was a graphic designer at the Institute of Fine Mechanics in Bucharest. from Bucharest, and between 1996 and 2012 he was a university lecturer. In 2006 he obtained his doctorate in Visual Arts.
He has been present in numerous personal and group exhibitions, both in Romania and abroad. He has exhibited works in the Art Museum of Constanța, the “Saint Olaf” Museum in Northfield (United States) and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Bucharest.
