Supremul Consiliu de Grad 33 și Ultim - Ritul Scoțian Antic și Acceptat din România

Supreme Council of the 33rd and Last Degree

of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Romania

Spring Festival

As we know, the year 2016 marked, along the way, some important events:

  • - 135 years of documented existence of the RSAA in Romania have been celebrated, which adds an extra mobility to the Masonic work carried out within the modern Romanian State;
  • - The Most Powerful and Illustrious Brother Stelian Nistor was elected President of the Conference of Sovereign Commanders of Europe and Associated Countries for the next two years - an election equivalent to the most prestigious international recognition in the history of our Rite;
  • - the installation of new Lodges of Perfection, Chapters of the Rosicrucian Chapters and the Kadosh Councils has begun - and continues, including these days throughout the country, a doubled action, of course, by removing from our ranks those who do not justify their honor of member of the RSAA.

In this context, outlined here only by first-hand events, it was in the nature of things that the National Session of March 25-26 this year would receive a special significance.

Coming only a few days after the establishment of the astronomical spring, the current Session is a moment of welcome introspection, for those willing to see beyond appearances, and rightly opens another doctrinal season: thus marking the "equinox of spring ”of our Masonic Work.

The conduct, on days, hours and events, of this Session was established in advance and communicated in time to all the Brothers members of the RSAA in Romania; her diary contains "moments" and "events" of real soul vibration - which we will talk about as soon as everything has happened properly.
Some preliminary considerations are, however, necessary; thus, the fact that neither Order 32 KCCH nor Grade 33 and Last will be awarded at this Session, is explained by the rigor that must be re-established regarding the Initiation and accession to High Degrees: degrees that can only be granted in strict accordance with the provisions of the Grand Constitutions of 1762 and 1786.

As stated by the Sovereign Grand Commander, the RSAA in Romania does not sell degrees - as, in the Middle Ages, the Papacy sold "indulgences"; but grants salary increases only to the Brethren who stand out through a constant and fruitful activity inside and outside the Rite… All the more rigorous must work this qualitative criterion in the two cases mentioned expresis verbis.

I do not insist. I'm just saying that things are changing; that they are back on track. The time has come, then!

The time has come for a stronger discourse of identity, including the assertion of Freemasonry - of our Rite, in particular - as the matrix of modern Romania.

The time has come to prove by deeds that, although we are an elitist organization, holders of the High Degrees and of the qualities / qualifications that the said degrees presuppose, our message is not an "elitist" one; that, through everything it undertakes, our work is addressed to the decent majority: who simply sees their work and is willing - through work - to contribute to Romania's prosperity.

The time has come to reject the retrograde and defensive discourse of the so-called conservatives, as well as the labels uttered against us by the “liberalism” self-identified with the “progress” of Romania.

The time has come to enhance and capitalize on those intellectual resources willing and able, through solidarity and brotherhood, to consolidate the Euro-Atlantic profile of today's Romanian society.

The time has come to promote, between ourselves and outside of us, balance, moderation, suppleness: as constituent elements of a social organism capable of metabolizing the challenges of an increasingly polarized world.

The time has come! Spring is here!
