Event of LP Edmond Nicolau no. 29 and LP Marcel Şapira no. 74 from Orientul Bucharest

 

The Lodges of Perfection celebrate as a feast day the fifteenth day of the Hebrew month Tishri. This year 15 Tishri was on Friday 04 October.

The origins and meanings of the Feast of Tishri make it one of the most important holidays Scottish. Although Tishri was originally celebrated as a festival of harvest and gathering, no other occasion embodies the character and purpose of the Scottish Rite better than this historic celebration, which coincided with the dedication of King Solomon's Temple (2 Chronicles 7:8- 10). To gather the meanings of the holiday is to summarize the main ideals and traditions of our Fraternity.

First, we observe the holiday of Tishri because it is an ancient custom that now has the force of law. According to the Statute of the Supreme Council of the Southern Jurisdiction, the celebration was considered a mandatory attendance, a sharing of our fraternal spirit.

Second, the rich symbolism of the legend of the dedication of the Temple is an essential part of the Fourteenth Degree. The symbolic details of the position, design, construction, furnishings and decoration of the Temple have special significance as they apply to the ideal temple of Freemasonry built in the heart of each brother. Through the symbols of the Temple we learn to recommit ourselves to building Freemasonry "in the hearts of men and among the nations”.

Another reason to participate in the Feast of Tishri is that it fosters brotherhood. We meet at a common table, express our mutual esteem, and thus foster that essential bond of cordiality and respect which lightens and divides the weight of our Masonic endeavours. Such social gatherings open us to each other in an elevated atmosphere beyond the realm of normal, day-to-day communication. In the context of the Feast of Tabernacles, we realize more deeply than ever the value of our fellow man, without which the individual is lost in a self-imposed prison of human isolation.

Ultimately, the law, legend, peace, equality, unity and communion of the Feast of Tishri combine to make it one of the most important Masonic holidays. At this table of reflection, all people – Jews, Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, etc. – join in a common voice of thanksgiving in which every man can share his gratitude and express his sincere thanks to the One who made all things, gave us life, gave us freedom.

This year, the Edmond Nicolau Perfection Lodge no. 29 from Valea Bucharest decided to organize, for the first time, this celebration. Marcel Şapira Lodge of Perfection no. 74 from Bucharest.

The outfit and the ritual Agape took place at the Ghica Palace, in the presence of several guests, including six members of the Supreme Council of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite from Romania.

The brothers present appreciated in their speeches the organization and development of the Land, as well as the Masonic spirit and harmony that dominated the event
