The Supreme Mother Council of the World is considered to be the Supreme Council of the Southern Jurisdiction of the United States of America.
On May 31, 1801, a Supreme Council was formed in Charleston under the auspices of the Great Constitutions, which absorbed the Rite of Perfection and subsequently issued authorizations for other Supreme Councils. Consequently, all of today's regular Supreme Councils originate, directly or indirectly, in this Supreme Council of the Southern Jurisdiction of the United States of America.
In 1813, the Southern Jurisdiction established the 33rd Supreme Council for the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction of the United States of America.
In 1845, the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction issued the operating license for a Supreme Council of England and Wales.
Today the Sovereign Grand Commander of the Southern Jurisdiction of the United States, the Supreme Mother Council of the World, is Jim Cole, 33.
